Six Things Not To Say At An Interview

While it is important to research and practice possible questions that could be asked during an interview and the answers to these questions, it is also important to know that the practice is just a guide to enable you familiarize yourself with the interview setting, do not memorize questions and answers because it would hinder the flow of conversation between you and the interviewer. Here are some tips on the things that should not be said in an interview. “Could you tell me what the company is all about?”: We expect that you would have done your research about the organization you want to work with, know the core values and a brief history of the organization. The only exception in this case is if you are being interviewed by a Consulting Firm in which case you may not know whom they are recruiting for. Great advice from the Richest person in China, Mr. Jack Ma

This man is someone I always want to listen to, I look for every opportunity to learn from him. I saw this post on social media and I just thought to share with BIE readers. Be inspired… Jack Ma says, “Please tell your children that the world is changing every day and no one is going to wait for you in the past. When lighter was invented, matches slowly disappeared. When calculator was created, abacus was to fade away. When digital camera was designed, the market of negative film no longer existed. When direct market selling/internet-based selling arises, traditional marketing declines. When smartphone with 4G (wireless internet access) was introduced to the world, you no longer need to turn on your computer at home. When WeChat and WhatsApp (mobile text/voice/video messaging) are developed, traditional text messaging is no longer as popular as before. Let’s not to blame “Who took over Whose business.” It’s only because people are more adjustable and adaptable to new ideas and changes in the world. Someone asks Jack Ma, “What is your secret for success?” He says, “Really simple…I am doing (action) while you’re only watching.” Please remember that the world keeps changing every day. If ...

No experience? How to find a job

Finding a job with no experience in an economy that is already struggling can seem like a truly daunting task. Don’t get discouraged just because you lack professional experience – there are many things that you can do to increase your employability. Become a volunteer One way to gain experience in a field is to seek out a volunteer position. Many companies do not post volunteer positions online so be sure to ask a specific organisation if they have any volunteer positions available. Even if it is difficult to volunteer in your specific field, volunteer anywhere so you can show that you have been productive. A great volunteer can often lead to the offer of a paid position. Alter your CV Many people wrongly assume that a CV has to only be about work experience. A CV can be functional and can instead highlight skills, education and/or training. Work on a CV that shows your skills and abilities rather than one that simply has a limited work history. Tailor each CV to the job you are seeking. Network, network, network Networking is arguably the most important way to find a job when you have no work experience. Make connections through ...

How to get a job through Networking – Tokunbo Fasoro

“The job you want may not be advertised at all” I remember at some point in my life, I took sometime time off work to have my baby and was ready to get back to work . One day I was with a neighbor, while chatting I mentioned that I was ready to get back to work. A few days later she called me and asked me if I was interested in a role. She said to me that the position just opened in an organization she was presently handling a project for, that the MD just mentioned it to her.  She immediately told the MD about me and I was scheduled for an interview and that was how I got the job. “The job was never advertised, my network got me the job” Lots of times, many jobs are not advertised. People get jobs through referrals all the time.  You just might know someone that knows someone that can get you that dream job. Social media have connected lots of people together, you definitely will have people in your network you have not seen years, some may just  be acquaintances, old classmates, colleagues etc, there will be definitely  someone ...
