Push Your Limits This Year – Mofolusade Sonaike

Push your limits this year. I thought about doing Facebook live videos all of last year, every time there was something left to do, then there was the cold feet moments, me thinking about tiny details, “should I wear makeup?”, “should I dress casual or formal?”, “should I script it or just let it flow?” Then there was the struggle on the gadgets to use “I need lights, I don’t have that”, “oh I need a lapel mic” . Guess what? I even got the lights but I just never felt I was ready. Who can relate? Thing is, you will never feel ready? Entrepreneurs are doers , we really shouldn’t worry about looking stupid or getting laughed at (it can pain sha .lol ). Just get up, and do it! That’s how we grow. Share on: WhatsApp Post Views: 9

7 Mistakes Every Job Seeker Should Avoid During an Interview- Tokunbo Fasoro

In the course of interviewing graduates and young people over the years, I have discerned quite a number of things they say/do that serve as red flags during these interviews; a lot of candidates have consequently, lost many job offers. Often times it’s difficult to give the much needed feedback due to reasons such as time constraints and a disinclination to cause offense. Hence, the decision to put this out for youngjob seekers to read, so they canavoid such mistakes: Bad Introduction- From the question ‘Tell me about yourself’, we expect you to sell yourself to us in a few words; talk about yourself and your achievements. Many a time, I can tell who is in and who is probably going to lose it just from the response to this question. In a nut shell, if your first 30 seconds is not great, it has an impact on the rest of the interview. C.V and linked in profile must match with personality- Lots of times, some candidates write half-truths or outright lies. Some lie about their ages, especially if the position has an age limit, forgetting that there would definitely be discrepancies between the claimed age and their primary and secondary ...

BIE Entrepreneur of the week: Raufu Ayomide Ayishat.

I  am Raufu Ayomide Ayishat, a 24 years old young lady and I am a shoe maker. My sojourn began 6 years ago as a single speck of thought during one of those school vacations where you’re idle. My cousin sat me down and made me see the necessity of picking up a vocation thereby attending a skill acquisition program. My first consideration was make-up, seeing as it was all the rave at the time. However, pointing out the need to stand out, she suggested I go for something else and I ended up picking shoe making.     After 4 weeks of basic and advanced classes, it occurred to me that this is something I could actually do. So I started making slippers and sandals; I would make free shoes for people, usually my friends just to see how it fits. The major challenge I had was getting funds to buy materials and tools; all I had at the time was stipends, yet I would eke out some to successfully make a few pairs of slippers and sandals.   Sometimes, I would walk from Oshodi to Mushin just so I could have enough money to buy the needed materials. ...

What If You Don’t Fail? – Zika Nwaise

So many times, I hear people say, ‘What if it doesn’t work?’, ‘What if I don’t get it right?’ or ‘What if it doesn’t come out right?’. But they hardly say, ‘What if it does work?’ or ‘What if it becomes the best?’. How would we know if we do not try. I was once in a state of dilemma about either taking a risk and going into a particular business or just keeping my money in a fixed deposit account and watch it grow gradually. After so much conflicting opinions from friends and family, a dear friend told me I had two options; either go after what I wanted or remain where I was, and that of these two options, only one could guarantee a different result. And then it struck me, I had never taken the risk of starting up anything but had always admired my friends whose businesses were blooming, so I decided to take a risk. Now what I’m trying to say is, let us not allow any pessimistic thought stop us from achieving our dreams, let’s make an effort to try the ‘other’ option, that is, do things a different way in order to get ...

Please remember my Christmas gift o!…and do not forget to show some love this season, yes! Show some love. You must be wondering what I mean by that since it’s a season of love and everybody already has that notion;so I’m going to break it down – how we can show love this season. I know we have entrepreneurs in the house; it doesn’t hurt to give discounts or freebies this season. I know someone who did that last year and guess what happened? There was an overflow of customers and clients this year. Try it out and you may be shocked at the response you get. For those that offer services either in an organization or own businesses, please try to be extra polite, smile a little bit more, say ‘Compliments of the Season’ to customers and go the extra mile to put a smile on someone’s face – even if it’s just one person a day. *smiles* I know we can! ...

“All you need is someone to believe in you” – The Jimi Tewe Story

Jimi Tewe is a mentor and someone I always look forward to learning from. Thank you Jimi Tewe for letting us share this amazing story on this platform. Be Inspired… I’m a man of many parts. From a professional point of view, I run an organisation called Inspiro Consulting. It’s an HR and career services organisation and has been running for 6 years. Prior to that, I had worked with different organisations in consulting and banking at senior management levels. Today, I do a lot of career coaching, counselling, and public speaking. I also pastor the Lekki arm of my church, Kingsword International Church. I’m an author of 5 published books. The truth is, I wasn’t always like this. I remember some time ago, my mum called me and said there was a friend of hers that wanted to speak with me. So the woman was given the phone. I knew her when I was in Secondary school. This is how the conversation went: Mum’s friend: “Hello, is this Jimi?” Me: “Good afternoon ma. How are you ma?” Mum’s friend: “My children have been telling me about one Jimi Tewe that is going around talking everywhere and I was like ...
