“All you need is someone to believe in you” – The Jimi Tewe Story

Jimi Tewe is a mentor and someone I always look forward to learning from. Thank you Jimi Tewe for letting us share this amazing story on this platform. Be Inspired… I’m a man of many parts. From a professional point of view, I run an organisation called Inspiro Consulting. It’s an HR and career services organisation and has been running for 6 years. Prior to that, I had worked with different organisations in consulting and banking at senior management levels. Today, I do a lot of career coaching, counselling, and public speaking. I also pastor the Lekki arm of my church, Kingsword International Church. I’m an author of 5 published books. The truth is, I wasn’t always like this. I remember some time ago, my mum called me and said there was a friend of hers that wanted to speak with me. So the woman was given the phone. I knew her when I was in Secondary school. This is how the conversation went: Mum’s friend: “Hello, is this Jimi?” Me: “Good afternoon ma. How are you ma?” Mum’s friend: “My children have been telling me about one Jimi Tewe that is going around talking everywhere and I was like ...

Great advice from the Richest person in China, Mr. Jack Ma

This man is someone I always want to listen to, I look for every opportunity to learn from him. I saw this post on social media and I just thought to share with BIE readers. Be inspired… Jack Ma says, “Please tell your children that the world is changing every day and no one is going to wait for you in the past. When lighter was invented, matches slowly disappeared. When calculator was created, abacus was to fade away. When digital camera was designed, the market of negative film no longer existed. When direct market selling/internet-based selling arises, traditional marketing declines. When smartphone with 4G (wireless internet access) was introduced to the world, you no longer need to turn on your computer at home. When WeChat and WhatsApp (mobile text/voice/video messaging) are developed, traditional text messaging is no longer as popular as before. Let’s not to blame “Who took over Whose business.” It’s only because people are more adjustable and adaptable to new ideas and changes in the world. Someone asks Jack Ma, “What is your secret for success?” He says, “Really simple…I am doing (action) while you’re only watching.” Please remember that the world keeps changing every day. If ...

Working Your Way into Career Success – Tokunbo Fasoro

A lot of us make mistakes in our career choices because we do not plan. We assume that our grades can get us to our target careers. I was speaking with a group of students in a University in Lagos about how we have so many second class upper and first class candidates these days. In my own days, a whole department might just produce one second class upper and no first class student at all! Lol! On a serious note, this simply means that there is a lot of competition out there. The question is“What makes you stand out from the crowd?” This question led to my developing the acronym DPA, i would like to share with BIE readers today. Follow these steps and you will have a great chance at career success. Discover Prepare Act Discover: Know yourself –“Who am I? What are my likes? What am I passionate about? Where do I see myself happy in the next 10 years?” A lot of people are miserable and stuck in the wrong careers just because they failed to take time to discover, who they really are. Prepare: Match those abilities, passion and who you are with a particular ...

It’s not news that the Nigerian Economy is in recession, and some other economies across the the world especially oil dependent countries and we just thought that i‎t would be great to do a write up on ways to survive the recession so our BIE readers especially our young entrepreneurs can be guided. I spoke to a mentor of mine I call her Auntie Hetty and she was kind enough to put this together for us which she culled from various sources. Please read carefully. Many businesses are likely to fold up with money scarce in countries affected by the recession , leading to job losses and poverty. With inflation and high exchange rate the banks will not be able to give loans and when they do the interest rate will be too high to afford. With high inflation those with paid salaries are now actually earning less, that is if they will be lucky to keep their jobs… Below are tips of survival in this period. 1. Cash is going to be King and whoever has it or has access to it should preserve it. 2. Spend less than you earn; SAVE for the rainy day. 3. Cut down ...

Don’t Be Limited By Your Environment – Tokunbo Fasoro

I woke up this morning to the news of someone being burnt to death because he stole. It was really upsetting because personally, I do not think someone who stole should be put to that type of horrible death. In addition, some people mentioned that the society had failed him – that was the supposed reason for resorting to theft. It got me thinking. I have never had it really easy in my life. I really struggled to get where I am today. I realized that complaining about the environment wouldn’t get me anywhere, wishing I had opportunities like other people wasn’t going to help my situation, nor would sitting around and waiting for a miracle from heaven going to improve matters for me. I decided that no matter how unpromising the environment looked, nor my lack of a silver spoon at birth, all I needed to do was to look beyond my environment and decide not to be limited by it. I resolved to work hard and buy my ‘golden’ spoon myself. Lol! I have the permission of my friend Seyi to share his story on how he was not limited by his environment… Seyi was born into an ...

It promises to be a relaxed atmosphere where you will laugh, learn, network and be inspired to do more” Passion and Prudence is a tale about the need to be money-wise in the face of hardship and lack.
