5 Movies That Have Inspired Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs face a lot at different times of their career, sometimes they need to find inspiration. Movies are a good source of inspiration and they teach a lot.

A film can give an entrepreneur insights on behaviors of other entrepreneurs, motivation during tough situations and inspiration when at a road block. Here are some movies that every entrepreneur should watch:

  1. JOY:
    This 2015 movie is top on the list because it is not an everyday story, but it is a true story. It is a little different from silicon valley’s kind of entrepreneurship. It shows a woman who started from nothing and invented a mop that people use around the world. She was faced with a lot of obstacles, but one thing she had was resilience; she never gave up and it led to her success. Watch the trailer.
  2. THE INTERN:
    This 2015 movie tells a story of an old man/retired advertising professional who saw an advert of a start-up company employing old people as interns, he applied and was placed to work with the CEO who is an entrepreneur. He watches how she battled with her company, gives her professional advice and assists her on various accounts. It is a nice movie that shows work-life balance in entrepreneurs and the zeal entrepreneurs have to push forward regardless of obstacles.
  3. PIRATES OF SILICON VALLEY:
    The movie, released in 1999, shows how Apple and Microsoft as well as other silicon valley companies rose. It focuses mostly on Steve Jobs, Steve Wosniak, Bill Gates and Paul Allen and the relationship between Apple and Microsoft. It’s inspiring and motivating.
  4. THE SOCIAL NETWORK:
    This movie shows how Facebook started as a company. It recounts the beginning of Mark Zuckerberg’s venture and how he dropped out of school to make his idea a reality. It was released in 2010, and Mark Zuckerberg has come out to say it is a little over dramatized but the lessons to be learnt are still there.
  5. CHEF:
    This 2014 movie tells the story of a chef who got fired from his restaurant for not cooking the mundane way his boss wanted him to cook. Nonetheless, he went off to start from scratch again and built a successful business. The movie shows the value of persistence and how you can grow your business using social media.
