Hey guys, it’s another wonderful week today and we are happy to have one of our BIE Readers share his article on the personalities that have inspired him, I hope you all get inspired because I sure am.
- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Adichie is a popular Nigerian Writer who was born in the city of Enugu, grew up in the university town of Nsukka in southeastern Nigeria, where the University of Nigeria is situated. While she was growing up, her father was a professor of statistics at the university, and her mother was the university’s first female registrar.
Adichie studied medicine and pharmacy at the University of Nigeria for a year and a half. During this period, she edited The Compass, a magazine run by the university’s Catholic medical students and at the age of 19, she left for the United States to study communications and political science at Drexel University in Philadelphia
Adichie once lived in Chinua Achebe’s house, the Igbo author of Nigerian masterwork Things Fall Apart, and her desire to write was sparked by his work.
Today, the Nigerian novelist, nonfiction writer and short story writer has been called “the most prominent” of a “procession of critically acclaimed young Anglophone authors that is succeeding in attracting a new generation of readers to African literature”.
She is the most prominent being ever and the true definition of what an author should be.
